Filmmaker John Waters released from hospital after car accident

Cult filmmaker John Waters was released from the hospital Tuesday after a car accident in Baltimore County.

Waters, 78, said in a statement that he was shaken but not seriously injured.

“Because it hurts when I laugh, I will not have a funny answer to the fact that I was in a car accident that no one said was my fault,” Waters wrote in a statement. “I hope you understand. I’m being released from the hospital and everything is fine.”

Details of the accident were initially unknown.
