Billy Graham RRT Deployed to Houston, Texas Following Floods

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Crisis-trained chaplains from the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) are deployed to the Houston, Texas, area as excessive flooding has affected much of the region. The deadly storms dropped several inches of rain, causing rivers to overflow and flood homes, businesses and roads.

“We have found that flooding can be a particularly devastating natural disaster. Often your possessions, your memories, even your mattress and your couch, are where you left them, but you can’t keep them. They must be removed from the curb before mold takes over. The emotional toll is incalculable,” said Josh Holland, international director of BG-RRT. “Crisis-trained chaplains will come alongside Northeast Houstonians in their times of loss and grief, bringing the comfort and hope of Jesus in these dark days.”

BG-RRT is deployed in collaboration with Samaritan’s Purse, the Christian disaster relief organization also led by Franklin Graham. Together, the two ministries will meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those who have been impacted.

BG-RRT chaplains now minister in six regions across the United States. In addition to Houston, Texas, the ministry serves the emotional and spiritual needs of the following communities:

  • Northeast Oklahoma (tornado)
  • Minden, Iowa (tornado)
  • Slidell, Louisiana (tornado)
  • Rock Hill, South Carolina (hail storm)

Chaplains also offer hope and provide emotional comfort and spiritual care to families who have been forced to flee their homes in war-torn Ukraine.
