Ondo Guber: APC suspends Senator Ibrahim

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igbotako II area of ​​Okitipupa Local Government Area of ​​Ondo State has announced the suspension of the Senator representing Ondo South, Jimoh Ibrahim, over alleged anti-party activities and insubordination.

The notice was signed by community board members including Omotoye Olusola, Bakere Usuf, Tore Obwoselu, Oloyinmi Idowu, Borewaye Louyomi, Oladipupo Bose, Alkimbobola Seyi, Lawal-Babatunde, Aritawe-Ademole, Akinkuoju Olarewaju and Fabioye Ajoke, among others.

Ibrahim’s suspension came after he lost the party’s governorship election in the state.

The party leaders said their move to suspend Ibrahim was based on Article 21, Section A of the APC Constitution.

The 16-member executives said in a letter that the decision to suspend the gubernatorial candidate was made during their meeting on May 13, 2024.

The executives noted that despite the development, Ibrahim continued to sue the governor and the APC, blatantly disregarding the party’s directives.

A letter made available to newsmen in Akure, the state capital on Wednesday said: “We, the members of the APC Executive Committee of Igbotako II District in Okitipupa Local Government Area of ​​Ondo State, have a meeting scheduled for Monday, May “Convened.” 13, 2024.

“During our meeting, we discussed in detail various issues affecting the progress and development of our party, particularly indiscipline and disobedience of some members.

“We have found that Senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s actions and activities violate the party’s constitution, particularly his decision to sue the party and his anti-party activities.

“For this reason, we have decided to take appropriate disciplinary action against him, as set out in the party’s constitution. Senator Jimoh Folorunso Ibrahim is hereby suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect for disobedience and anti-party activities under Article 21, Section A of the APC Constitution.

“It would be recalled that the Chairman of the National Party of APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, met all the governorship candidates of Ondo State on April 25, 2024 in Abuja.

“During the meeting, he urged them to work with the party’s candidate and incumbent governor of Ondo State, Honorable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. Nevertheless, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim Folorunso sued the governor and the APC, blatantly disregarding the party’s instructions.

“Furthermore, he has engaged in anti-party activities by urging his supporters in Igbotako and Ondo State to join the NNPP, claiming that he will soon receive the governorship ticket from them. Senator Jimoh, before quitting the party, openly declared his intention to disrupt the APC as evidenced by his actions at the Federal High Court in Abuja and his derogatory statements about the APC in various media outlets.

“For emphasis, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim Folorunso has been suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect and is hereby barred from participating in APC activities nationwide.”
