Husky pet and owner attacked in Hyderabad

A dispute over a dog allegedly biting a person during a walk led to an attack on the dog and the owners in Rahmath Nagar of Madhua Nagar in Hyderabad. The two families, who live in the same area, had previously argued over the dog, a Siberian husky, being aggressive toward others, police officials said.

According to police, the problem primarily arose on May 8 when Madhu and his family passed through Dhanunjay’s residence on their way to cast postal votes. “Their dog allegedly attacked and bit Dhanunjay’s family member, which led to an argument between them. A case has been duly booked,” Madhura Nagar police inspector D Madhusudhan Reddy said.

However, on Tuesday evening, Dhanunjay along with some others attacked Mr. Madhu’s brother, Mr. Srinath, while he was walking the pet. Mr. Srinath and the dog were attacked with sticks brought by Dhanunjay and others. A CCTV video of the incident went viral on social media platforms. Mr Srinath’s mother Rajeshwari and sister Swapna also sustained injuries when they tried to intervene.

“Following a complaint, we took the injured persons to the hospital for treatment and took the dog to a veterinary clinic for medical attention. A case has been registered against Dhanunjay and others under Sections 147, 148,307 r/w 34 of the IPC and Section 11(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,” the official confirmed.
