politics

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Igbotako II Ward in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, has denied the alleged suspension of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who represents Ondo South in the National Assembly, circulating on social media.

The Chairman of APC in the community, Mr. Adetokunbo Omotola, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Okitipupa on Wednesday.

Omotola said the party’s district leaders had given a vote of confidence in Ibrahim in lieu of the alleged suspension.

He said the APC in the community also stood by the senator in his pursuit of justice in the last gubernatorial primary.

“As Chairman of the APC in Igbotako District II, Senator Ibrahim is still a bona fide member of our party and we stand firmly with him to achieve justice in the recent governorship primary.

“No fewer than 25 community leaders have expressed their confidence in Ibrahim. Therefore, any other letter circulated as suspension of Ibrahim is null and void,” Omotola said.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim’s aide, Mr Banji Okunomo, in an interview with NAN, described the alleged suspension as mere drama laced with politics.

According to him, the senator’s alleged suspension is a coincidence.

“We are not aware of the suspension letter signed by unknown station managers, we only learned that a vote of confidence was passed for Ibrahim,” Okunomo said.

NAN reports that in the two documents circulated on social media, the suspension letter was signed by 16 community leaders while the trust letter was signed by 25 community leaders.

NAN also reports that the crisis within the party was not unrelated to the case filed by Ibrahim in a High Court in Abuja challenging the April 20 gubernatorial primary that featured Lucky Aiyedatiwa as a candidate for the April 16 gubernatorial election. was nominated in November. (NAN)
