The woman found dead in a Milliken home last week has been identified as 36-year-old Elise Sophia Ruybal of Milliken.

The Weld County Coroner’s Office identified Ruybal as the victim of a suspected murder-suicide on Tuesday, according to a press release from the coroner’s office. Police believe they found the suspect – 49-year-old Joseph Michael Mladenik of Cheyenne, Wyoming – dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound later that day in Laramie, Wyoming.

Around noon on May 7, Milliken police responded to the 1400 block of Farmland Lane for a report of a shooting. The police entered the house and found Ruybal’s body inside.

Cheyenne-based radio station KGAB AM 650 reported that police arrested Mladenik back in November after he was accused of trying to stab a woman at his Cheyenne home while saying, “This will kill you.” KGAB also reported that Mladenik was arrested in September 2015 after making threats and leading police on a high-speed chase that ended near Potter, Nebraska.

Milliken police continue to investigate the suspected murder-suicide and plan to provide more information as it becomes available, the release said.
