DGFT suspends SIONs in Appendix A effective immediately: Find out why

The DGFT has suspended the SION mentioned in Annexure “A” of this public notice with immediate effect

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), vide Public Notice No. 03/2024-25 dated May 3, 2024, has been notified to suspend the Standard Input-Output Norms (SION) mentioned in Annexure “A” with immediate effect.

Citing the authority arising from paragraphs 1.03 and 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, as amended, the Director General of Foreign Trade has officially suspended the SIONs listed in Annexure “A” to the Public Notice.

The notice states: “In exercise of the powers conferred under Sections 1.03 and 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, as amended; The Director General of Foreign Trade hereby suspends the Standard Input-Output Norms (SION) referred to in Annexure “A” of this public notice with immediate effect.”

The decision to suspend these SIONs is based on the officials’ observation that the norms listed in Annexure ‘A’ have remained inactive for the last five years. They will therefore be suspended with immediate effect.

The DGFT, under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, is responsible for formulating and updating SIONs based on inputs from industry stakeholders, trade associations and government agencies.
