Escambia Woman Arrested in Miami for DUI Manslaughter in 2023 Davis Highway Crash: NorthEscambia.com

A 22-year-old Escambia County woman was arrested in Miami in connection with a fatal crash last December in Escambia County.

Jasmine Tashawri West was arrested by the US Marshals Service. She will be extradited to Escambia County to face charges of DUI manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, two counts of DUI causing injury, reckless driving resulting in serious bodily injury, driving without a license resulting in death and driving without a license resulting in serious bodily injury .

The crash occurred on December 30, 2023 at approximately 2 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said West was traveling south on Davis Highway when her pickup truck crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a vehicle with four people inside.

The driver, a 45-year-old Pace man, died in the accident, while a 43-year-old Pace woman suffered life-threatening injuries. Two Pace girls, ages 14 and 12, suffered minor injuries.

During the investigation, traffic investigators determined that West was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident,” FHP said in a news release Tuesday afternoon. “After securing the warrant for DUI manslaughter, attempts to locate West in Pensacola yielded negative results. While working with the U.S. Marshals, it was discovered that West had fled to Miami.
