Corpus Christi woman involved in accident on US Highway 77 | Refugio County Press

A Corpus Christi woman was involved in a car accident in Refugio County Monday morning when her 2017 Hyundai Elantra left the road.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Esperanza Rojas Ojeda, 57, was traveling south on U.S. Highway 77 near the San Patricio County line around 8:14 a.m. when her vehicle left the lane and struck a road sign crashed into northbound lanes and southbound lanes.

Rojas Ojeda told DPS troopers that an 18-wheeler entered her lane as both vehicles negotiated a curve in the roadway.

According to DPS, the Elantra performed erroneous evasive maneuvers that caused it to crash into the sign.

The Elantra traveled in the grassy median until it hit the cable barrier and became caught in it.

Refugio County EMS arrived at the scene, but Rojas Ojeda refused treatment. Also on scene were the Refugio County Sheriff’s Office, Woodsboro Police Department and the Woodsboro Volunteer Fire Department.
