Police investigated the death of a woman in southeast Lawrence late Monday into early Tuesday, but provided only vague information in a social media post.

First responders were dispatched to a medical emergency call in the 1300 block of East 25th Terrace, which is between Haskell Avenue and Harper Street, around 8 p.m. Monday.

A reporter saw officers questioning people but never saw a paramedic at the scene. The officers had stretched a tarp around the woman’s body, which was lying on the porch of the house.

Lawrence police did not respond to an email seeking information about the investigation at 9 p.m. Monday, but posted a report about the call on Facebook shortly after 1:30 a.m

“Detecting no obvious signs of trauma, officers began interviewing potential witnesses and called in investigators to further work the case,” the post said.

Police did not name the woman in their post.

The post said police would provide more information “as soon as we are able.”
