Grimes County, Texas Judge Convicts Man of Child Sexual Abuse

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas – A 44-year-old man will spend the next three and a half decades in prison after pleading guilty and being convicted of persistent sexual abuse of a child.

According to the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, the county sheriff’s office was notified in June 2023 that Juan Alcocer Galindo had sexually assaulted two women in the Plantersville area. The two victims were 14 years old at the time of the report and lived in Illinois.

About a month after authorities received the report, a Grimes County Sheriff’s Office detective and the district attorney’s chief investigator interviewed Galindo after meeting him at his workplace. During the interview, Galindo confessed to sexually assaulting one of the women.

While he was being questioned, another district attorney investigator searched his home on a warrant. During the search, evidence of what he had done was found.

A few months after Galindo’s interview, representatives from the state attorney general’s office traveled to Illinois in September to meet with the victims and gather more information and evidence that they could use against him.

Galindo pleaded guilty before 12th District Judge David Moorman and must serve his 35-year sentence without the possibility of parole. He is currently in the Grimes County Jail awaiting transfer to the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

“Another pedophile was removed from the Grimes County community because police worked cooperatively and two courageous young girls came forward,” Assistant District Attorney Meagan Callaham said in a news release. “From day one, our entire team has been committed to bringing justice to the victims.”
