Red Dead Redemption PC could finally be real as the Rockstar update site is available

GTA 6 may be the most anticipated game in the world right now. In the meantime, we’re still having fun with Grand Theft Auto 5 and reliving the great story and world of Red Dead Redemption 2. But despite all of the studio’s fantastic work, we’ve been wanting something more from Rockstar, and now it looks like it could finally happen. Based on a new update on the developer’s website that is almost mythical Red Dead Redemption The PC release could happen soon.

The GTA 6 release date is just around the corner and of course it’s the Rockstar open world game we’re all waiting for the most. But there’s one classic from the creators of Grand Theft Auto 5 that somehow never made it to our beloved PCs. The original Red Dead Redemption from 2010 is still not available on Steam or any other platform. A groundbreaking western adventure with one of the best endings of any triple-A game, RDR 1 deserves a relaunch. Well, based on a subtle but very, very meaningful Rockstar update, that could be happening soon.

As discovered by veteran Rockstar dataminer and content creator “TezFun2” and also seen and verified by PCGamesN, an update on the studio’s launcher site contains a very specific reference to Red Dead Redemption on PC. You can see the original post from TezFun2 below.

In particular, the source code for the launcher has been updated with some new words that read: “Journey through the vast expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption and its zombie horror companion Undead Nightmare, now playable on PC.”

This is by no means a confirmation – based on under-the-hood updates to the website, it previously seemed like Red Dead Redemption would be coming to PC in 2023, when in reality it was just a relaunch for consoles. Still, it seems possible that an official announcement from Rockstar could arrive soon. Here is hope.

In the meantime, pick up the best Western games or perhaps return to Los Santos with the best GTA 5 mods, updated and refreshed for 2024.
