PA couple arrested after domestic incident and assaulted police officer

(WJET/WFXP) – Two Erie County residents were arrested over the weekend after one of them suffered a serious laceration in a fight and a state trooper was attacked.

Pennsyvlania State Police Girard troopers were called to a residence in the 5600 block of West Ridge Road. May 11 around 2:30 a.m. after a man reported he had been cut by a woman.


When officers arrived, they found a 42-year-old Erie man with a severe laceration to one of his arms and later learned that he had been injured, allegedly by his girlfriend, a 40-year-old Fairview resident, during a fight between the two .

Both individuals were arrested, but when officers arrested the woman, she allegedly became “disorderly and uncooperative” before attempting to flee on foot.

Police said she managed to get one hand out of the handcuffs before flying off and being caught again. When she was taken back into custody, she allegedly kicked one of the police officers in the genital area.

Court documents show she faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, aggravated assault on a police officer, simple assault, fleeing, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. The man was charged with simple assault and harassment.

Both suspects were remanded to the Erie County Jail, the woman on $10,000 bail and the man on $5,000 bail.
