‘Maybe it was a fair decision…’ CSK coach reacts to Ravindra Jadeja’s ‘Obstructing The Field’ incident against RR

Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja landed in controversy after he was sacked for obstructing the pitch during the CSK vs RR match. CSK batting coach Michael Hussey commented on the incident and shared his perspective on the matter.

Ravindra Jadeja’s dismissal will go down as one of the dubious umpiring decisions of IPL 2024.

In a controversial moment during the clash between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in game 61 of IPL 2024 at MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 12, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was fired for obstructing the field, sparking a heated debate on social media. CSK batting coach Michael Hussey responded to the incident, stating that he did not closely observe the delivery and could not confirm whether the conversation was fair or not.

In the 16th over of the second innings, Avesh Khan delivered a ball which Ravindra Jadeja played towards third man. Jadeja made one run first and then tried to push a second. But Ruturaj Gaikwad intervened and made Jadeja stop despite being halfway up the pitch. Sanju Samson took advantage of the opportunity and aimed the ball towards the stumps and hit Jadeja. The RR captain immediately appealed and after review, the umpires concluded that Jadeja’s movement was indeed obstructing the pitch, leading to his dismissal.

“Well, I only had time to take a quick look at it during the game. Try changing the angle while he’s running back. I see a story where he had to turn around, but he didn’t try to change direction “He ran back. I can understand that the referee made his decision. Maybe it was a fair decision,” Michael Hussey told the press.
