CT woman arrested for drunk driving after rolling her car into a forest

Over the weekend, a woman was arrested for drunk driving when she drove her car off the road and into a wooded area in Ledyard.

Officers responded to a report of a rollover just after 12:20 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Iron Street and found the driver of the vehicle sitting on the roof of her car, which was on its side in a wooded area facing east, according to the Ledyard -Police Department she was on the side of the street.

Police said the driver was identified as 34-year-old Megan Gleason of Moodus.

According to police, Gleason was helped out of her vehicle by firefighters and paramedics. She refused medical treatment.

The vehicle was significantly damaged and had to be removed by a towing service.

Police allege that officers smelled alcohol on Gleason’s breath as they spoke to her. She allegedly admitted to drinking “too much” before the accident, police said.

Gleason reportedly failed a field sobriety test before she was taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence and failing to drive properly.

She was held for four hours and later released on $2,500 bail. Her appearance in New London Superior Court is scheduled for June 6.
