GLENVIEW, Ill. – One person was killed and three others were hospitalized after a fatal crash late Sunday night in the north suburb, according to Glenview police.

According to police, the accident occurred in the 1200 block of East Lake Avenue around 11 p.m. A badly damaged Ford Mustang and another vehicle that had split in half were observed at the scene of the accident.

A heavy police presence remained on site early Monday morning. Police still had a portion of East Lake Avenue closed while they investigated the fatal crash.

A witness said a driver flew past him at high speed and turned off his lights before colliding with another vehicle.

“He was probably going about 90 miles an hour whenever he was speeding in front of me,” the witness said. “If I had to guess, he would have put it on the floor and turned off the lights.

“There was no reason for it. I don’t think it was road rage or anything like that. I think he just wanted to drive fast and was reckless.”

WGN News is still working to determine the condition and identities of those involved in the crash.

The police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
