State Police – NBC Connecticut

A man is facing charges after state police said he crashed his vehicle while driving the wrong way on Interstate 91 North in Windsor over the weekend.

According to police, around 11 p.m. Sunday, a 58-year-old East Granby man drove from Exit 40 onto I-91 North, then turned left and crossed all three lanes.

The man reportedly hit the concrete barrier in the median and continued driving in the wrong direction until the vehicle was damaged on the left shoulder.

According to state police, the man showed signs of impairment and told troopers that he crashed into the downtown median.

He is charged with, among other things, driving under the influence, failure to maintain the correct lane, reckless driving, driving the wrong way, driving without insurance and reckless endangerment.

The man was released on $25,000 bail and is due in court on May 30.
