This crime comes after the launch of Sceptre, a new campaign to tackle knife crime.

A Bournemouth Police spokesman said: “Upon arrival the man was found at the station and following reports from the public that the man was hiding something, he was detained for a stop and search.”

“As a result, a knife was found on him and the man is now assisting police with their investigations.

“Following a review of our national police database, it was discovered that the man was also wanted for recall from prison and was also arrested for drug-related offences.

“Today Scepter is launched by the NPCC as a national campaign to tackle knife crime. Dorset Police will be supporting this campaign and will soon have knife drop-off bins available at local police stations.

“We also wanted to make it clear to those out there who are thinking about carrying knives that this is not the right choice and that if they are found in possession of knives, the police will take positive action in dealing with knife crime.”
