The Chicago-based carrier is no stranger to deploying regional aircraft on long flights.

The service will share the same flight number, regardless of the destination. Delta will likely schedule the same 757-200 to operate the return flight to ATL, as it is scheduled to depart approximately an hour and a half after arriving at ANC.

The “75G”

Of the 18 flights scheduled this month, Delta will offer a total of 3,474 seats and 11,867,184 available seat miles (ASM) on the route. Each flight will accommodate 193 passengers, which suggests that Delta will use its “75G” version of its 757-200. This specific configuration is the second largest version of its five 757-200 configurations (75D, 75G, 75H, 75S, 75C). In a two-class configuration, the aircraft can accommodate 20 passengers in first class and 173 passengers in the main cabin. Forty-one seats in the main cabin are Delta Comfort+ seats with extra legroom.

Delta is the largest 757-200 operator, with 111 examples in total. Despite the deployment of this type of aircraft on long routes this summer, it does not hold the record for operating the longest 757-200 flight in the world. United Airlines beats the carrier with its transatlantic service, flying more than 3,900 miles between Newark, New Jersey, and Stockholm, Sweden.
