Norwich police officers, dispatchers and civilians receive awards

At Monday night’s Norwich City Council meeting, several Norwich Police Department employees and two civilians were honored.

Officer First Class Zachary Barber was awarded the VFW National Law Enforcement Public Servant Citation. This award is given to an individual who serves in a local, county, state or federal entity and is charged with enforcing the laws within his or her area of ​​responsibility. Norwich Mayor Peter Nystrom presented Barber with a proclamation at the city council meeting thanking him for his efforts.

Criteria for the award include recognition by colleagues or those they serve, consistent excellence in the performance of one’s duties, consistent commitment and continuous growth. Barber is the only public servant to receive the award in Connecticut this year.
