Six underage boys fed up with repeated sexual abuse murder madrassa imam in Ajmer | Crime News

The boys had previously misled the police with a fabricated story about the involvement of unknown men in the murder, but upon further questioning, the dark truth of the entire case emerged.

Ajmer: In a shocking incident, six minor boys were arrested for the murder of a madrassa cleric who allegedly sexually abused a student in Ajmer district of Rajasthan, police said. The investigation into the case remained in limbo for several days as the boys stuck to their version that some masked men had killed the man.

Maulana Mohammad Mahir (32) was found dead with injuries to his body on April 27 in the mosque where he lived with the boys in Ramganj district. During investigation, the boys told police that some masked men stormed the mosque on the night of April 26 and killed him, following which they threatened them to keep quiet about the incident, police said.

The case proved to be a challenge for police as hundreds of CCTV footage from inside the mosque and the surrounding area revealed nothing concrete to support the boys’ claims. The police officers then took the students into confidence after which they revealed the truth, Ajmer SP Devendra Bishnoi was quoted as saying by Times of India.

Excitement about sexual abuse

One of the boys was allegedly sexually abused by the Imam and when the minor threatened people, Mahir bought his silence with money. The sexual abuse became a regular occurrence, which is why the boys planned to kill him as it greatly upset them.

On April 26, they mixed sleeping pills into Mahir’s food, beat him to death with a bat and strangled him with a rope after he fell asleep, Bishnoi said. During interrogation, the boys revealed that they had purchased sleeping pills from a local medical supply store to add to the Imam’s food, but had dinner outside that evening.

When he returned to the mosque, the boys offered him curd laced with the pills, and when he went to sleep, they took a rope and a stick. The man was attacked on the head with a stick and was held with the rope when he tried to get up and strangled to death, the SP said.

The boys left the room only after checking to see if the Imam’s heart had stopped beating. When the murder came to light the next morning, the boys were arrested and questioned several times, leading to the revelation. Further investigations are underway.
