Two dead after an early morning crash on I-275 near Ann Arbor Trail

PLYMOUTH TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) — A crash on the I-275 northbound highway early Sunday morning left two people dead.

That’s what the Michigan State Police say They received calls around 3:20 a.m. about a crash on I-275 toward Ann Arbor Trail in Plymouth Township.

Investigators say the driver of a Ford Edge was traveling southbound when he lost control, crossed the median and went back up the embankment on the north side of the highway. The vehicle then spun northbound, overturned and struck the driver of a Buick LaCrosse.

“It is currently unclear why the driver left the road,” said Lt. Michael Shaw on social media about the accident. “Unfortunately, neither the driver nor the passenger who died in the accident were wearing a seatbelt.”

The 46-year-old Jasper woman who was driving the Ford died at the scene along with a 21-year-old passenger from Canton. The driver of the Buick suffered minor injuries.

The highway was closed for on-site investigations, but has since been reopened.
