TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A motorcyclist who was struck by a minivan in a crash Friday night has died.

At approximately 6 p.m., the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office and Wea Fire Department responded to a crash at the intersection of County Roads 800 South and 200 East.

Responding officers on scene determined that a minivan driven by 85-year-old Patricia Harwood of Crawfordsville attempted to turn left onto County Road 200 East, in front of a westbound motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was identified as 18-year-old Cole Groshon.

The vehicles collided and Groshon was thrown into the ditch area.

Both vehicles caught fire and the occupants of the van fled the vehicle. Patricia Harwood and her passenger, Daniel Harwood, were taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Groshon was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.

The crash remains under investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
