Stay tuned for several rains and storms this week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The weather pattern is becoming a little more active as the week begins. Clouds will thicken overnight and lows will be in the lower 60s. A few showers will move into the region tonight before more widespread rainfall occurs Monday into Tuesday. In fact, we’ll give you one First warning for two rounds of off and on rain and storms this week. Several bouts of wet and stormy weather are heading our way from Monday to Tuesday. Further rainfall and storms are expected through Friday.

Monday will see increasing clouds and highs in the 70s. Rain chances will increase throughout the day and peak as we move into the evening and overnight. Lows will be mild in the 60s.

A few storms could have strong impacts later Monday and into Tuesday. Key threats include devastating wind gusts exceeding 60 miles per hour, heavy rain with localized flooding, and hail. The risk of tornadoes is low, but not zero.

Flooding could be a concern from now through Wednesday, as forecast models predict about 3 to 4 inches of rain in the river region, with 4 to 6 inches of rain for locations in south and southwest Alabama, local amounts could be higher or lower depending on the development of the systems we track. This is all due to the several heavy rains expected to hit the area early this work and school week.

More rain is expected on Tuesday, with highs rising back to around 80 degrees. Some thunderstorms are possible. The rain showers will continue into Tuesday night and become less significant. Lows will remain in the 60s.

It will remain mostly dry on Wednesday and Thursday and we expect a mix of sun and clouds. Highs continue to climb into the 80s, with lows in the 60s.

Our next round of rain will come overnight from Thursday to Friday. A few storms are possible with this system. Highs will warm into the 80s, with lows in the 60s. Something we will be watching closely as the system continues to develop over the weekend and into next week.
