NEWTON COUNTY, Ga.A second person was behind bars for helping Newton County inmate Kendrick Hurst escape.

Diamante Seymour, 30, of Garden City, was arrested and accused of helping Hurst escape from custody at a Newton County hospital.

Seymour is accused of aiding or abetting another to evade lawful custody. Newton County Sheriff Ezell Brown said aiding and abetting is a felony.

On May 7, officers arrested 49-year-old Gerald Harper.

“The Newton County Sheriff’s Office will leave no stone unturned during this ongoing investigation,” said Sheriff Brown. “Any person who assisted Kendrick Hurst – whether by providing meals, providing funds, making phone calls, providing clothing and providing transportation – will be arrested and charged.”

It’s not clear how many others the sheriff’s office believes may be out there.

Hurst was finally caught on May 10 in Wake County, North Carolina.

He is charged with fleeing, improperly backing up, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, failing to stop at a yield sign, failing to signal when turning, driving on the wrong side of the road, improper lane use, and running a yellow light, driving on a divided highway intersection on a median, reckless driving, speeding ( more than 10-14), terroristic threats and acts (2 points), intentional obstruction of police officers and failure to obey a traffic control device.

The investigation is ongoing.
