Man dead after boat crashes into rocks on Little Misery Island off north coast, prosecutor says

The body of a 65-year-old man was recovered from the sea off the coast of Massachusetts after a boat accident near Little Misery Island, authorities said. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said no foul play is suspected in the man’s death, which remains under investigation. A representative for TowBoatUS, a marine towing and charter service, told NewsCenter 5 that the company received a call around 5 p.m. Saturday about a boat that had crashed into the rocks on Little Misery Island in Salem Sound. A U.S. Coast Guard representative told NewsCenter 5 that a 29-foot search vessel and helicopter traveled from Air Station Cape Cod to Salem Sound to assist in the search and rescue mission near Little Misery Island. Crews from several harbor master’s offices also took part in the search, according to the Coast Guard representative, who also confirmed that TowBoatUS assisted in the search. Prosecutors did not release the man’s name because authorities were still working to confirm that his next of kin had been notified of his death. Related story:
