Two teenagers were arrested after crashing into a tree in a stolen vehicle

At least two people were injured in a crash in Sacramento on Sunday evening that occurred after a vehicle pursuit, police said. Sacramento police said officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle at Northgate Boulevard and San Juan Road around 5:07 p.m. According to police, the vehicle accelerated when officers got behind the vehicle and a chase began. Officers eventually placed the pursuit in surveillance mode and stopped pursuing the stolen vehicle, police said. A few minutes later, a helicopter flew over the vehicle as it veered off the Interstate 80 eastbound ramp at El Camino and struck a tree. According to police, the driver and passenger got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene but were arrested. The two backseat passengers were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to police, all four people in the vehicle were juveniles. The driver, a juvenile male, is in custody on three felony charges related to the pursuit and theft of the vehicle.
