Famous “Fargo” actor “Big Lebowski” was randomly attacked in New York City

NEW YORK – Actor Steve Buscemi, known for his roles in films such as “The Big Lebowski” and the TV show “Boardwalk Empire,” is reportedly recovering after being randomly attacked while walking on a New York street.

NBC New York reports that Buscemi, 66, was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of bruising, swelling and bleeding in his left eye following Wednesday’s attack. Buscemi was walking on Third Avenue near 27th Street in Manhattan when he was struck in the face, ABC 7 reports.

Witnesses tell ABC 7 that Buscemi chased his attacker, but the suspect was able to get away. NBC New York reports that Xavier Israel, 27, a homeless man, is currently in custody and has been charged with assault and harassment in connection with the attack.

Buscemi’s publicist released a statement saying, “He is doing well and appreciates everyone’s good wishes, although he is incredibly sad for everyone that this happened while at the same time he was walking the streets of New York.” “

Deadline reports that actor Michael Stuhlbarg, who starred with Buscemi, actor Rick Moranis and reality star Bethenny Frankel in Boardwalk Empire, was recently attacked while walking in New York.

Buscemi has had a long career playing quirky characters in films like “Reservoir Dogs,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Fargo” and “Big Fish.” He recently appeared in an episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” during the show’s final season on HBO.
