Rosamund Pike wears a “protective veil” at the Golden Globes after her face was “completely shattered” in a skiing accident

The actress, who is nominated for her role in Saltburn, said she “kind of fell in love with the look” of the veil

Rosamund Pike turned an unfortunate accident into a fashion victory.

The Ex girlfriend The 44-year-old star became an instant stylish star at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards in a lacy all-black ensemble with an elaborate fascinator worn over a sleek bun.

When talking to diversityWhen Marc Malkin hit the red carpet, the star revealed that she wore the decorative headpiece for reasons beyond fashion.

Of the lace accessory that covered much of her face, Pike said, “It’s a protective veil for the occasion.”

“I had a (skiing) accident over Christmas,” the star said, adding, “Not what you want when you know you’re coming to the Golden Globes on January 7th.”

Pike said the accident left her face “completely shattered” on Dec. 26, so she thought to herself, “I have to do something.”

After Malkin pointed out that her face appeared to be free of injury from the accident, which occurred about two weeks before the awards ceremony, Pike said she was “healed” – but decided to keep the veil.

“I kind of fell in love with the look,” she added.

The actress paired the statement headpiece with a stunning – and equally lacy – strapless black dress with floral details and a fishnet neckline, staying true to the color right down to her pumps and pedicure.

At the ceremony, Pike is seeking Best Performance by a Female Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for her role Salt burn.

After Malkin pointed out that her red carpet look attracted her Salt burn character, Lady Elspeth Catton, agreed with Pike, adding: “Well, you know, you have to channel it, don’t you?”

“Either she had a weird funeral vibe, or maybe she wore black to her wedding,” she added.
