Buffalo man pleads guilty to federal drug charge

A Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to a federal drug trafficking charge carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine, U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced.

Carlo D’Angelo, 45, entered his plea before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra Jr. to possession with intent to distribute alpha-pyrrolidinopentiophenone (a-PVP), a synthetic stimulant with effects similar to those methamphetamine.

Prosecutors said D’Angelo was found with approximately 6.1 grams of a-PVP during his May 2021 arrest at an Amherst hotel.

Prosecutors said investigators also found glass pipes containing burnt residue in D’Angelo’s vehicle, as well as plastic containers that could be used to make PVP and $5,100 in cash, which authorities said , came from drug trafficking.
