2 dead, 2 children hospitalized after crash in Sacramento County

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. – Two people were killed in a head-on crash in Sacramento County early Saturday morning.

The California Highway Patrol said the two-car crash was reported around 12:15 p.m. on Highway 160 at Sherman Island Road.

According to police, a man driving a gray Nissan SUV entered the northbound lane of Highway 160 and crashed into a silver Lexus SUV. It is unclear why the car ended up in the oncoming lane.

The Nissan driver and a passenger both died from their injuries. According to police, a three-month-old child and a five-year-old child were taken to a Bay Area hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of the Lexus suffered serious injuries and was taken to an East Bay hospital.

Police said alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
