Police: Uniontown man charged after attacking paramedic

A Uniontown man is facing criminal charges after state police say he attacked a paramedic while first responders tried to render him aid.

Eric Parker, 24, passed out at a Dollar General in North Union, Fayete County.

Parker is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, use or possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct, as well as public intoxication, harassment and trespassing.

He failed to post $10,000 bail and is currently being held in the Fayette County Jail.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. on May 4, State Police responded to the Dollar General in the National Park for reports of an unresponsive man on the property.

Parker passed out in the store’s break room while under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.

He then “physically assaulted” a Fayette EMS paramedic who arrived at the scene to render aid, police said.

Police arrested Parker at the scene. Both Parker and the paramedic were taken to a hospital for treatment.
