Both suspects involved in the Largo bank robbery were arrested, and the search warrant uncovered firearms violations

Investigators with the Largo Police Department continue to investigate a robbery at the PNC Bank located at 10751 Ulmerton Road that occurred on Friday, May 3, 2024 at approximately 12:46 p.m.

Brian Brown, 43, of Largo, was arrested for his role in the PNC Bank robbery. According to arrest information, Brown was the “getaway driver” for a man who robbed the cashier. He identified the person as a 53-year-old Calvin Lockett from Largo.

Brown denied knowing about the robbery; However, during surveillance, he was observed Lockett leaving the neighboring store, where he dropped him off on a bicycle in disguise.

When Lockett returned, he changed into separate clothing and disposed of the bike in the company’s dumpster. Brown was seen driving Lockett off the property after the robbery.

It should be noted that Lockett was provided with “bait tickets” that the bank had recorded the serial numbers.

On May 5, 2024, a search warrant was executed at Brown’s residence in the 2200 block of Mary Sue Street in Largo. Brown gave investigators the code to his safe, and two of the “bait bills” that had been stolen from the PNC were in a stack of $1,300 bills ($26-$50 bills) in the safe.

During the search of Brown’s home, vehicle and trailer, officers found five firearms: Sentry Arms Rifle AK47, Glock 19, Smith and Wesson 9mm, Kahr 9mm and American Tactical Rifle .223.

Brown admitted after Miranda that he collects firearms and that the firearms found belonged to him. He admitted to being a convicted felon and had not yet had his rights restored. Two of the guns were reported stolen in the NCIC/FCIC outside Pinellas County. Brown advised him to buy firearms on the street because he could not purchase them legally because he was a convicted felon.

Due to a 2002 robbery with a deadly weapon/firearm conviction, he was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm in addition to a robbery charge.

Largo police began searching for Calvin Lockett, a transient who was last seen in the Ridgecrest area of ​​Largo.

On Thursday, May 12, 2024, Calvin Lockett turned himself in to the Largo Police Department
Department. He was charged with robbery (PNC Bank) and attempted robbery
(Fifth Third Bank).

Brown posted bail and was released from the Pinellas County Jail on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. As of Sunday, May 12, 2024, Lockett remains in the Pinellas County Jail.
