Boy, 4, killed in Detroit I-75 crash caused by drunk mother: police

According to police, investigators also discovered that the boy was not properly secured in his seat before the accident.​​​

DETROIT – A 4-year-old boy was killed in a three-car crash on Interstate 75 near Piquette Avenue in Detroit on Monday, according to Michigan State Police.

According to police, officers arrived at the scene of the accident at around 1:10 p.m. and found the four-year-old lifeless on the ground.

According to police, the boy was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.

Investigators said the boy’s mother, a 30-year-old woman, was the at-fault driver in the crash and they believe she was driving drunk, police said.

According to police, investigators also discovered that the boy was not properly secured in his seat before the accident.

Police were still investigating the accident and said they would turn their findings over to prosecutors.

“This crash is being investigated by the MSP Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Metro South Post,” said Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw. “There are still a few things that need to be done and an investigator’s report will be submitted to the prosecutor’s office when completed.”
