Roads flooded in Angelina, Polk and Houston counties, washed out by rain

POLK COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Polk County Emergency Management, the City of Lufkin and TxDOT have reported several roads were flooded or washed out as heavy rains hit East Texas.

Serious accident on South First Street in Lufkin delays traffic

The following road closures were reported in East Texas:

  • E. Denman Ave. in front of Dollar General is flooded in Lufkin.

  • Frank Avenue in front of CHI is flooded in Lufkin.

  • Sayers Street at Ellen Trout Drive in Lufkin is flooded.

  • A bridge was reportedly washed out on Wilton Street at Paul Avenue in Lufkin.

  • FM 1276 has five areas that are difficult to pass due to water on the road.

  • A culvert collapsed on Bobcat Trail.

  • County Line Road is washed out between Benny Griffin Road and Timberline Road.

  • US 287 North at FM 2663 is flooded in Houston County.

  • US 287 South outside Loop 304 is flooded in Houston County.

  • FM 2663 near FM 2022 is flooded in Houston County.

  • FM 1272 is flooded in Houston County.

Polk County is also under a tornado watch and flood watch. Authorities are therefore advising people to be careful when driving as more roads are likely to be affected.
