Texas man drowns in boating accident in Ouachita County

A boating accident has killed a McKinney, Texas, man who drowned in a private pond at a residence on Roseman Road, according to the Ouachita County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Deputy TJ Robertson told the Camden News that John Haley, 76, and another person were in a pond around 10 a.m. when the boat they were in overturned. The second person swam to shore but saw Haley holding on to the tip.

A second witness said Haley went underwater twice but never resurfaced a second time.

According to OCSO, Haley could not swim and was not wearing a life jacket.
