Police officer and suspect shot dead in West Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A Columbus police officer and a suspect were shot Sunday evening in an incident on the city’s west side that was related to a shooting earlier at an Amazon facility in West Jefferson.

According to a Columbus police dispatcher, the shooting occurred near Georgesville Road and Clime Road North around 6:08 p.m


The officer shot the suspect after a car chase, the dispatcher said.

The officer is in stable condition, but there is no information available about the suspect’s condition.

Police say the suspect is the same suspect involved in a shooting at an Amazon facility in West Jefferson.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, multiple 911 calls were received at approximately 4:42 p.m. reporting shots fired at the Amazon building on the 6400 block of State Route 29 in West Jefferson

The sheriff’s office said there were no reported injuries at the facility.
