Steve Buscemi says a man randomly attacked him in New York City

The actor was walking in Kips Bay – a neighborhood in eastern Manhattan – last week when he said a guy came up to him and stared at him before running away.

According to the New York Post … SB eventually went to the hospital where he was treated for swelling in his face and eye.

We’ve confirmed the incident with Steve’s rep … who tells TMZ that the actor is doing well following the attack and appreciates the well-wishes from fans. Buscemi is also very sad for all the people who have been attacked in this way.

Attacks like these are not uncommon in New York City…remember, Bethenny Frankel recounted an attack that turned out to be eerily similar to the one Buscemi suffered Tons of peopleespecially young women, were in Steve’s position.

Of course, more recently, a specific attack in New York City has shaken the country’s brain… as a video of a man sneaking up on a woman, and she choked unconsciously with a belt before allegedly raping her went viral.
