Officials update incident with two pedestrians struck – first state update

Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that closed N Dupont Highway on Sunday.

Officials said a motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of North Dupont Highway and School Lane in New Castle around 3:40 p.m. today, injuring several pedestrians.

The incident prompted an immediate response from New Castle County paramedics and Wilmington Manor Fire Company, as well as other local emergency services.

Upon arrival, first responders located a motor vehicle collision and two pedestrians struck by a separate vehicle. A male pedestrian, approximately 15 years old, sustained a leg injury and was treated by New Castle County paramedics. He was then transported to Christiana Hospital by a Minquas Fire Company ambulance in stable condition.

A 36-year-old pedestrian was also treated at the scene by paramedics for possible internal injuries and was transported to Christiana Hospital by a Wilmington Manor Fire Company ambulance in critical condition. In addition, a 68-year-old woman examined at the scene refused medical treatment.

A fourth patient involved in the incident was transported by Christiana Fire Company ambulance to Christiana Hospital for further medical evaluation.

Responding agencies included New Castle County EMS, Wilmington Manor Fire Company, Minquadale Fire Company, Delaware Air National Guard Fire Department, Christiana Fire Company and Delaware State Police.
