Man arrested in connection with fatal accident

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington police have arrested a man in connection with Friday night’s fatal car crash.

Police have arrested 39-year-old Ronald Smith. He is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, without a license plate, and with the owner failing to obtain required insurance (first offense).

Smith is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

On May 10, 2024, at approximately 11 p.m., officers were called to the area of ​​Winchester Rd and Bahama Rd for a personal injury accident.

Upon arrival, officers transported 54-year-old Billy Williamson Jr. to a local hospital where he later died.
