TRAX train derails in West Valley City, Utah

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) – A TRAX train derailed in West Valley City on Sunday afternoon, with the Utah Transit Authority telling riders to expect delays.

“Expect significant delays on the Green Line between West Valley Central and Decker Lake Station due to serious mechanical issues,” UTA initially said on social media.

Less than an hour after the original post alerted riders to the problems, UTA told riders to expect “significant delays” due to a “rail issue” and informed riders that the Decker station Lake will not be served at this time.

The UTA said the Van Bridge and Bus Bridge have been activated between River Trail and West Valley Central.

Utah Transit Authority Police responded to the scene. ABC4.com is awaiting discussions with authorities and will update this story as more information becomes available.
