Suspicious device found near Alachua County line

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – Authorities are investigating a suspicious device found in a bar parking lot near the Columbia-Alachua County line.

According to a social media post, Columbia County officials were alerted to a suspicious device in the parking lot of Billy’s Santa Fe Bar on South US 441 around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies then cordoned off the area. They discovered the device was not equipped with a charge, the agency said.

The device was collected by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad and the scene was cleared of all other concerns. CCSo said the investigation will continue to determine how the device got there.
