A man has died after being shot in Portsmouth on Saturday evening

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Saturday night was tragic for a Portsmouth family.

Portsmouth police were called to the scene of a shooting in the 1200 block of Wilcox Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

When police arrived, an adult male was suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. As police confirmed, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by paramedics, who also intervened.

The man was later identified as Antwain Lamont Terry, 46, and his next of kin were identified.

No suspects have been identified at this time and the motive has not been determined.

This investigation continues to be conducted by the Portsmouth Police Major Crimes Unit.
