Motorcyclist dies in three-vehicle crash at Highway 1 and Carpenter Street, says CHP – KION546

CARMEL, Calif. (KION-TV) – The California Highway Patrol confirmed at least one motorcyclist was killed after being involved in a three-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

A California Highway Patrol officer confirmed to KION that the accident occurred just before 6 a.m. on Northbound Highway 1 and Carpenter Street

Officers said they found a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole and three other vehicles were involved.

Investigators said they found a motorcyclist across the street and was pronounced dead at the scene.

PG&E is currently working on repairs to the utility pole. The California Highway Patrol said Caltrans closed one lane on each side of the highway to allow PG&E to complete repairs.

According to the California Highway Patrol, it is unknown when the road will fully reopen.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in this accident. The crash is still under investigation.
