FIFA bans Yves Jean Bart over allegations of sexual abuse

The president of the Haitian Football Federation, Yves Jean-Bart, has been banned for life by FIFA for sexual abuse. An independent ethics committee made this decision on Friday.

The committee found 73-year-old Jean-Bart guilty of “abusing his position and sexually harassing and abusing various female players, including minors, in violation of the FIFA Code of Ethics.” Jean-Bart’s ban extends to “all football-related activities (administrative, sporting or other) at national and international level”.

Jean-Bart was also fined 1 million Swiss francs for his actions. He has denied the allegations.

Yves Jean-Bart was suspended by FIFA in May

In April, allegations against Jean-Bart emerged. A month later, FIFA suspended Jean-Bart for 90 days so that it could investigate these allegations.

Jean-Bart is accused of sexually abusing several female soccer players. An alleged victim told The Guardian that Jean-Bart forced players to have sex. A former player claims she was forced to have an abortion after being sexually abused by Jean-Bart.
