Omaha police were called to 3805 N. 53rd St. at 3:10 a.m. and learned that a 17-year-old Omaha girl with stab wounds had been taken in a private vehicle to Nebraska Medical Center. The girl, Ezra Sinkiawic, did not survive.

Kianna Opal, a Blair resident, was identified by witnesses as the person responsible for the stabbing attack on Sinkiawic. Opal, who remained at the scene, was taken to Omaha Police Department headquarters and arrested on suspicion of felony murder and use of a weapon, a knife, to commit a felony.

Sinkiawic’s death is the sixth homicide in Omaha this year and the first since April 4. That compares to three murders in Omaha at this point in 2023.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Omaha Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP, at www.omahacrimestoppers.org or through the P3 Tips mobile app. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
