Deadly shooting overnight in Miami Beach is under investigation

MIAMI – Police investigators are investigating a fatal shooting overnight in Miami Beach.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday

Miami Beach police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1500 block of Washington Avenue.

“Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered a male victim who appeared to have been shot. Officers immediately began CPR until the Miami Beach Fire Department arrived,” police said.

The victim was transported to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Someone who works nearby said it happened outside the Exchange South Beach nightclub and a security guard was killed.

“I don’t understand why people kill each other, but this is America.”

He said there were police everywhere.

Another person said they heard the shooting victim was a club promoter. He said he saw people running.

“The beach is crazy,” he said.

The police are continuing to investigate.
