Teen pronounced dead, several injured after shooting at Northborough house party

A 16-year-old Bellingham man is dead and several others injured after a shooting at a large house party in Northborough early Sunday morning, officials said.

Around 1 a.m., guests at the party at 333 Howard St. called a police officer to inform them that someone had brought a gun into the house, District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said during a news conference Sunday afternoon. As more police officers arrived, they heard several gunshots coming from inside the apartment, more than… 200 people.

Northborough Police Chief Brian Griffin described the scene as “chaotic.”

Authorities carried the 16-year-old to an ambulance and drove him to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Another 17-year-old victim was shot in the buttocks and was treated at Marlborough Hospital, Early said. He was later released.

Two other people were treated at Marlborough Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and have also been released.

There were several others with visible injuries who were treated at the scene but refused treatment when officers asked to take them to the hospital.

Three suspects, ranging in age from approximately 19 to 27, were arrested on firearms-related charges. They are not from Northborough and will be arraigned in Westborough District Court on Monday.

The house is on an AirBnB property, Early said. Police are in contact with the owner, who was told a party would not take place.

“Our thoughts are with the victim and his family during this senseless act of violence,” Griffin said. “It’s especially difficult on Mother’s Day.”
