*Update – Suspect Arrested* Delaware State Police Investigate Attempted Murder in Lewes – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police investigators have arrested an 18-year-old Lewis M Cameron of Hyattsville, Maryland, on attempted murder charges Friday.

On October 8, 2023, at approximately 6:01 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 31000 block of Maple Court in Lewes for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 29-year-old Millsboro man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside the residence. Through investigative efforts, investigators identified Lewis M. Cameron as the suspect in the shooting.

On May 10, 2024, Cameron was extradited from Maryland to Delaware. He was taken to Troop 5 where he was accused of the following crimes:

  • Attempted First Degree Murder (Felony)
  • Possession of a firearm while committing a crime (Felony)

Cameron was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,209,100 cash bond.
