Left-wing extremist student groups in the US state of Wisconsin have been suspended following anti-Semitic allegations

The University of Wisconsin’s Anticolonial Scientists and Mecha sections have been placed on interim suspension pending an investigation into allegations that they “advocated violence, supported terrorist organizations and/or contained anti-Semitic comments.”

According to student work The Daily Cardinal, An interim suspension means a group must “cease its activities (pending) an investigation and decision by the CSO (Committee on Student Organizations).”

The report notes that last weekend’s chalk messages included “Al-Qassam, you make us proud, kill another soldier now,” “Power to Al-Qassam” (the military wing of Hamas), “Power to Hezbollah,” and “Down with” included. Israel has broken up with the USA.”

Others praised the Houthis, who use the slogan “God is great, death to the US, death to Israel, curse to the Jews and victory to Islam.”

A message about her suspension was posted on the Anticolonial Scientists’ Instagram page, now inactive, which also included an accusation of a chalk that read “Curse all Jews.” It accused school officials of “making up more lies.”

Mecha de UW-Madison’s Instagram account reads, “Glory to the Resistance! Glory to the martyrs!” and says it supports the liberation of the Palestinian people from “Israeli unity.”

She also rejects the possibility of a two-state solution because it would simply be a “relationship with the colonizers and the colonized.” (Israel is referred to as “Israel” and the United States as “USA” throughout the embassy.)

“Our coalition believes that our points of unity must be directed against the Zionist entity’s barbaric attack on the Palestinian people,” the group’s message concluded.

Mecha also criticizes the alleged influence of “Israel” in Latin America:

The Daily Cardinal notes that one of its reporters was approached by a chalk writer who asked, “Why are you such an asshole?” Ironically, it appears that everyone who participated in the chalk drawings wore face-covering masks.

David Goldenberg, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League Midwest, told the newspaper: “It’s clear from the messages and signs what these protesters are celebrating and demanding.” For them, it’s about violence against Jews, the elimination of Jews from campus and the celebration of violence against Jews.”

When asked about last Saturday’s pro-Hamas messages, a representative of the UW Students for Justice in Palestine said that the group “cannot take into account everyone’s perspective” and that “a lot of people here are at very different stages, learning, what a free Palestine means.”
